Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C) and lightly grease a 9Γ—13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cook the Macaroni:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
    • Add the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente (about 7–8 minutes).
    • Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.
  3. Add Butter to Macaroni:
    • While the pasta is still hot, stir in the 4 tbsp of salted butter until it melts, coating the macaroni thoroughly.
    • Set aside.
  4. Prepare Milk Mixture:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cans of evaporated milk, 1/3 cup of milk of your choice, 2 large eggs, and 1/4 tsp garlic salt until smooth.
  5. Combine Cheeses:
    • In another bowl, mix 4 cups of shredded cheddar cheese and 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Layer the Mac and Cheese:
    • Spread 1/3 of the macaroni into the greased baking pan.
    • Sprinkle 1/3 of the cheese mixture over the macaroni.
    • Repeat these layers until all the macaroni and cheese are used, ending with a cheese layer on top.
  7. Add Milk Mixture:
    • Pour the milk and egg mixture evenly over the layers of macaroni, allowing it to seep through.
  8. Sprinkle with Paprika:
    • Lightly sprinkle 1 tsp of paprika over the top for a hint of color and extra flavor.
  9. Bake:
    • Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.
