- 3 cups dry elbow macaroni π²
- 4 tablespoons salted butter
- 2 cans (12 oz each) evaporated milk π₯
- 1/3 cup milk of choice (whole milk, 2%, or even almond milk can work) π₯
- 2 large eggs π₯
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- 4 cups cheddar cheese, shredded π§
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded π§
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C) and lightly grease a 9Γ13 inch baking pan.
- Cook the Macaroni:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente (about 7β8 minutes).
- Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.
- Add Butter to Macaroni:
- While the pasta is still hot, stir in the 4 tbsp of salted butter until it melts, coating the macaroni thoroughly.
- Set aside.
- Prepare Milk Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cans of evaporated milk, 1/3 cup of milk of your choice, 2 large eggs, and 1/4 tsp garlic salt until smooth.
- Combine Cheeses:
- In another bowl, mix 4 cups of shredded cheddar cheese and 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Layer the Mac and Cheese:
- Spread 1/3 of the macaroni into the greased baking pan.
- Sprinkle 1/3 of the cheese mixture over the macaroni.
- Repeat these layers until all the macaroni and cheese are used, ending with a cheese layer on top.
- Add Milk Mixture:
- Pour the milk and egg mixture evenly over the layers of macaroni, allowing it to seep through.
- Sprinkle with Paprika:
- Lightly sprinkle 1 tsp of paprika over the top for a hint of color and extra flavor.
- Bake:
- Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25β30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown on top.
